TECHNICAL CHECKLIST

A useful drawing makes a better machine brief

Machine drawings and tooling define the equipment brief. First, show the finished geometry and material. Then list the operations and open questions that need a configuration review.

01

Include material information

Provide the material grade, stock dimensions and profile cross-section. Show wall thickness or busbar thickness clearly.

02

Mark the important features

Dimension holes, slots, radii, angles and edge distances. Identify critical assembly dimensions and acceptable tolerances.

03

Show the full part

Include front, side and end views when needed. A detail view of one hole does not show clamping access or interference from an existing bend.

04

Add production context

Tell us the quantity, range of part sizes, existing operations and available power supply. Include any tooling already in use.

ILLUSTRATIVE SELECTION EXAMPLE

Describe the feature and the whole part

For an illustrative copper connection, a brief might state 12 mm × 160 mm stock, a 10 mm round hole and a 90° bend. Those details define a review request; they do not by themselves prove that the material, hole and bend can be processed together.

  • Add material grade, hole centers and edge distances, bend radius and direction, datums and tolerances.
  • Show all views needed to review clamps, tool access and clearance around existing bends.
  • List the requested punch and die, bending tool and cutting blade separately; ask the quotation to identify inclusions and options.

Use this example to frame your inquiry. Confirm the finished drawing, machine configuration and tools before selecting equipment.
